Bonus Files for those who have purchased the book: 90 minute video tutorial and spider model
If you have purchased the book "Creating Game Art for 3D Engines", we want to offer you a free, high-resolution, over 90-minute long video tutorial on how to rig and animate bones-based characters in 3ds Max. The subject of this tutorial is a spider with eight articulated legs that move correctly in opposite quad position. This example also incorporates principles of animation such as secondary motion.
We are also offering a free rigged and animated spider and robot model (which work in the Unity game engine) for those who have purchased the book.
Both bonus files will be available for a limited time, but at least until the end of 2010. Click here to access the video, you will need to have the book handy to find the passwords to the page. Once you arrive at the Spider 8 Bones Rigging Animating Tutorial page, you can right-click to save the 200 MB file to your hard-drive, or simply left-click to view the video. The spider model and the robot model are both less than 1 MB and were created in 3ds Max 2009.
From 3ds Max to Unity3d Game Engine
If you're into making video games, check out our latest video tutorial on using 3ds Max with the Unity3D game engine; use the menu at left to navigate to the Unity Tutorials page.
