Game-Based Learning

Digital games can help you learn almost any subject because in a game, the learning can be applied. You learn by doing. Because digital games and interactive interfaces generate excitement, they are the perfect solutions for many of today's learning problems, for both adults and children. 3D games make for a more immersive and compelling experience, where the player is a participant in an adventure, not just a passive observer. A game also allows the player more control over the experience, and engages the competitive mind in a positive way.

With game-based learning, retention also goes up. Studies have shown that retention can be greatly enhanced by stimulating the sense of sight, hearing, and touch. If you are stimulated with audio, you will have about a 20 percent retention rate. If there is audiovisual stimulation, the retention rate climbs to 30 percent. If the stimulation uses interactive multimedia where you are very involved, retention rates can soar to 60 percent. Game-based learning is one of the most powerful weapons to transmit complex ideas, and to make dry and tedious subjects come alive.
